DON is an ordering system that directly links Trubyte® dental labs and schools to dealers and DENTSPLY Prosthetics.  The DON system uses the Internet or an analogue telephone line to connect to DENTSPLY’s Value Added Network (VAN) which routes orders for Trubyte teeth and merchandise directly to dealers. Orders are generated by using a barcode scanner or by accessing product spec sheets on the DON web site.

To use the system, you must first obtain a username and password. This is done by completing the form on the DON web site.

The DON system was designed to primarily be used with DON barcode scanners.  Scanning barcodes is a very quick, easy, and accurate method to collect product code numbers for Trubyte teeth and merchandise. 

Using the DON Web Site:

To use DON, you must:

• Have a barcode scanner that can be programmed for DON settings

• Purchase one of the three DON barcode scanners

• Access the web site ( www.trubyte.com/don) directly to order using electronic spec sheets

1. Already Have Barcode Scanner

If you already have a barcode scanner and would like to use it with the DON System, settings on the barcode scanner will need to be changed.

Please use these set-up parameters:

1. Code 39 (or 3 of 9) “enable”

2. Check digit verify “enable”

3. Send check digit “disable”

4. Full ASCII “disable”

2. DON Barcode Scanner Options to Purchase

The DON Administrator will confirm that the you have the proper bar code scanner ordered in addition to the bar code labels.

Option G - DON Palm

DON Palm is a Palm Pilot with a built-in laser scanner.  This device does not need Internet access, only an analogue phone line. The Palm has extra features, such as an appointment book, contact list, "to do" list, and memos.  Orders are placed using DON Palm, and then sent to the “VAN” over an analogue phone line to the customer’s dealer.

Option F – Portable Data Terminal with Laser Scanner

The Portable Data Terminal with Laser Scanner is to be used with a personal computer, but does not require that the tooth stock be located close to the computer. The computer can be a desktop or laptop (if laptop must have USB PS2 adapter).  This option uses a keyboard to upload data to the DON web site after collecting data remotely. Option F is considered the best scanner for field sales representative because it can hold multiple orders.

Option B – Laser Scanner and Wedge Decoder

The Laser Scanner and Wedge Decoder is to be used with a desktop computer and comes with a six foot cable cord, which means the tooth stock with barcodes needs to be located close to the desktop computer. A 25 foot extended cable can be purchased for the scanner (P/N 10011).

Ordering Trubyte Products Other than Teeth:

Any Trubyte products with a barcode can be scanned and entered into the DON web site. Trubyte products, such as merchandise, can be ordered by entering the DENTSPLY product number, description and quantity in the comments section at checkout.
