Luci-Sof® Troubleshooting Guide

Observation Possible Cause Corrective Action
No bond Contaminated surface Grind surface to remove all traces of impression material and adhesive. Rinse denture with clean boiling water to remove wax and/or detergent. Never use solvents! Do not touch bonding surface after cleaning.
Bonder failure Apply bonder after flask has cooled to room temperature. A hot flask will cause the monomer to evaporate too rapidly.
Uncured Improper cure temperature Temperature is critical, especially when using an "overnight" cure. Check water temperature with a thermometer - do not rely solely on the curing unit thermostat. Immerse the flask when the water temperature is 163° F. Do not immerse in cold or room temperature and raise to 163° F.
Chemical contamination Do not use chemicals which prevent complete curing of Luci-Sof, i.e. accelerator for cyanoacrylate adhesive
Rough surface Finishing materials and technique Large amounts of material should first be removed with a scalpel. Generally abrasives such as Faskut Arbor Bands or Faskut aluminum oxide Abrasive Points will finish Luci-Sof better than a metal trimmer. Further smoothing may be done with a felt wheel and tripoli. The dental office may use diamonds, sandpaper discs or composite finishing points to make adjustments.
