| Observation |
Possible Cause |
Corrective Action |
| No bond |
Contaminated surface |
Grind surface to remove all traces of impression material and adhesive. Rinse denture with clean boiling water to remove wax and/or detergent. Never use solvents! Do not touch bonding surface after cleaning. |
|
Bonder failure |
Apply bonder after flask has cooled to room temperature. A hot flask will cause the monomer to evaporate too rapidly. |
| Uncured |
Improper cure temperature |
Temperature is critical, especially when using an "overnight" cure. Check water temperature with a thermometer - do not rely solely on the curing unit thermostat. Immerse the flask when the water temperature is 163° F. Do not immerse in cold or room temperature and raise to 163° F. |

Chemical contamination |
Do not use chemicals which prevent complete curing of Luci-Sof, i.e. accelerator for cyanoacrylate adhesive |
| Rough surface |
Finishing materials and technique |
Large amounts of material should first be removed with a scalpel. Generally abrasives such as Faskut Arbor Bands or Faskut aluminum oxide Abrasive Points will finish Luci-Sof better than a metal trimmer. Further smoothing may be done with a felt wheel and tripoli. The dental office may use diamonds, sandpaper discs or composite finishing points to make adjustments. |
