Description:
One of the most important phases in the technical procedures associated with complete denture fabrication is the
set up or positioning of artificial teeth to satisfy esthetic and mechanical requirements. Information concerning
natural tooth position, arrangement, form and function and how that information serves in guiding uses of artificial
teeth will be covered in this presentation. Several of the factors governing establishment of balanced articulation
will be considered with suggestions for practical applications to improve posterior tooth articulation and subsequent
functional benefits. A Plane of Orientation as well as specific anatomical landmarks for natural tooth positioning
will be illustrated. Suggested methods will be covered for arranging and articulating 30° anatomical posterior teeth,
20° posterior teeth, 10° posterior teeth and lingualized occlusion to produce optimal treatment results for edentulous patients.
